STAR IRON DESCENDANTS + Nurgle overload

As usual the name of a project hit me around the corner and mutilated me until I accepted it as a friend. STAR IRON DESCENDANTS started as a technical tryout and ended up to be a project I just needed to finish. No great feelings here, but a background is wide and open due the manliest name ever. Even Manowar would be jealous. Power!!!!!

The next thing that I actually enjoyed was this nurgle marine. For an apparent reason I have 6 FW torsos in my shelf and I decided to give 'em a go. I tried space marine hands and legs, but overall feel was too much bonkers. The next thing was to try weapon options, and ork gun seemed to work perfect. And as the weapon itself is quite large, I took terminator legs to make the mini look somewhat normal. And I like the result.

Here's also the next guy waiting to be finished. It seems the group will have quite a lot of variation in their sizes - the guy below has plague bearer legs...

The paint scheme goes well with DV- chosen.

Cheers!

Hail traditional drawing!

Good friend of mine uses W&N and Liquitex inks to create artsy cosmos of taboos and gags - gotta appreciate his eye for color and funkiness of lines. Genius.

Old stuff resurrected

Here's some quick pics of a forge world Nurgle dread I had hiding in my bits box. I gave it few lovely washes and glazes from my ink collection, and voila. Purge!

(I'm not really a big fan of this dread, there's just too much stuff going on... Note the plague bearer emerging from the filth - I guess he forgot his left arm at home.)

Xenos burial case - New beginning

Time to dig a grave for these fellas.

I think this cyclops scheme is not getting anywhere anymore, so I shall quit their breeding... farewell my lads! I found a nice little box the group, and decided to add a familiar inside the box... It became some sort of biomechanical creature watching over Merchant and his thugs. So. What shall I do with these creatures? I shall give them a rest in my collection for a moment, and then probably sell them to a person who'd actually like to play some games with them. Who knows.

And, after the burial, I accidentally started a new project with much more different things to do! Surprise, damnit.

Marked men - preacher

A horseman passes by.

"Hmph, look at that my lad. Obviously one of those crazed souls waiting the stars to fall. I'll bet ya he has nothing more in his sleeve but the urge to make even more townsmen go nuts and abandon their lives, I once saw when one of his kin came to a dusty town like these and gathered a sick group of people... And guess what. They all were butchered. I call it a butchering when you manage to wash ones brain only with your swollen tongue, and the victims starts to believe there really ain't much left to live for....  Damaged soul I'll tell ya.  - What? Haven't seen a rider yet? Listen to me lad;"

The horseman looks like an old religious creep, but in reality he ain't much older than a man at his best age. IT makes him look old. IT causes his limbs to fall off during the years, and the worst thing is he actually believes that his god beneath the stars talks him when a finger turns black and starts to grow black veins up your hand. He's giving his body to his Master piece by piece. These holy men carry their kin with them, as you can see - rotten heads hanging from the ropes... I guess the gauntlet hanging form the horse's side still has his own right hand there. I'm sure he has no more than few weeks before his body finally gives up, and a new preacher takes his place, carrying the remains of his family. A preacher like that will poison also your mind if you listen too carefully. It might be that you my lad are the next preacher if you ain't careful... Sometimes the biggest threat sounds like words of wisdom. His words are sickened promise of relief. By being unholy, he thinks he can become a god in flesh. A martyr of sorts.

Travelling from town to town is the only way for him to keep his religion alive. He must find a new apprentice before his collapsing.

"Oi, lad! Pass me the bottle will ya?"

Vicious stunties - will I make it this time?

Here's a promise for this year.

Some years ago I got a Chaos Dwarf army in my hands, and it still waits a proper paint job. I've had few poor tryouts with these fellas - I've tried a green scheme, true retro scheme, and some other more or less not functional schemes...

I think this year I will make it finally. Last year I discovered a non-stress way to paint effectively and fast, thanks to acrylic inks and traditional inks. The way I used different inks on my clients blood angels terminators and scouts (...and Aeon Blacksmith's robe) truly changes the way how I think painting miniatures.

After I get some other works done I'll dive into the world of fantasy battles again, and I shall finish what I started. This fifth time will be the last I guess. Even the army ain't playable at the moment and I don't have some of the crucial units, I will paint what I have and that's it.

How about the scheme?

Let's go with grimy retro red this time. Blackened steel, beards of smoky black and some rich golds. Maybe some icy blue to go with the magical elements... hmm hmm. Let's open the book of Tamurkhan once more.

D.Eldar reinforcements

Some goodies painted in a total rush for a client of mine. Even there was multiple delays, drawbacks and general bad luck with these - I got them finished. Victory.

Happy new year folks!

Lotus Hatcher - 5th member for the travelling party

A mere shadow of  his past he is. Master of melee combat, blessed weapon user but loyal to nobody he was. As he stands today, a massive mountain of muscle, ram head and decade old wheelchair, he might look a sad character with desperate life. His strong arms can drag him over the deserts, and end someone's life as fast as it started, but the corruption is his brain has made him demented and helpless. Only Master Merchant is able to construct bionic legs for his superior fighter, as he believes Lotus Hatcher is still capable to make a good thug for his travelling party. Blimey, maybe Master Merchant is also afraid to give functional legs to his fellow, you see Mr.Merchant ain't just anybody, he's a total jackass to his loyal group - as all businessmen tend to be - It might be that it's much safer for his skin to keep that fella disabled. Yesss.... indeed it is......

Now back to Dark Eldar!

Absinthe visions

I've put my soul into this build. it took me several months to get the certain state of mind to put this thing together. This fella started as a humorous piece, but in the end it turned out to be really dramatic and sad. I see this character as a former impersonation of strength and power, but something has happened and he's only a shadow of his former self. He has some primitive technology to keep him going - external spine and wheels as legs. He drags himself trough the rough land.

Anxious project I'd say. Not humorous anymore.

I've found it hard to start anything after a long break, but I've been maturing the thought of the new character who's joining the ramshackle forces of Merchant. Now I assume I have the right parts glued together, and the next step is to take some GS and fill the gaps.

I call him Lotus Hatcher.

Also here's a picture of my new more powerful lamp - it's a LED-rail with moving spots. As I've experienced, the color of the light is slightly more natural than my old lamp has. I use both of them at the same time to get awesome lightning conditions. I attached the LED-rail to a cymbal stand with some thick thread and voila!

How about other gentlemen of Brushes United? It's been a silent period of time, but as the nights are getting darker I assume our visions are getting brighter. What are you doing at the moment?

I challenge you you to construct a characteristic model around a collection of bitz you thought you'd never use - surprise yourselves!

Skorne, 50pts!

Hi all (once again!)

I have been slavering on my Skorne minis for PP as I went to a tournament with them. I played a 40pts Xerxis brick with 10 pts specials. It was a team tournament and I lost every got damn battle but had tons of fun. Here's my carry tray with my brick of medium base infantry and Mr.Tibbers.

Enjoy the picture bombing!
